So...What is a PLN anyhow?
The main goal of a Personal Learning Network, is well, to learn. By reaching out to other experts in the field, a PLN helps you create professional development experiences that are relevent to you. Also, with the use of technology, PLNs allow us to connect with people that aren't in our immediate sphere. Don't forget that we are experts ourselves, and PLNs provide a forum for us to share our ideas and expertise to others.
Online PLNs are nice because they're around the clock. Sometimes collaboration is organized at a specific time like a twitter chat or a webinar, but there's many options that can be done on your own time like blog posts or discussion forums. PLNs can also meet in person as well. Sometimes professionals within a school can set up a PLN, or a PLN can have meet-ups if it's more of a long distance set-up.
